RoboCup Team of the University of Hamburg
From 2004 to 2007 the RoboCup-Team of the University of Hamburg has been participating in the Four Legged League (FLL). Since 2003 our University has been offering RoboCup courses, that offered undergraduate, master, diploma and PhD students the opportunity to study robotics in depth. In 2009 we have been switching to the Nao as a new hardwareplatform and began with the development of our own framework for robotic applications. Introduction and Team History
Our university's RoboCup-Team ``RFC. ST. Ellingen (from 2004 until 2009 the team's name has been ``Hamburg DogBots) has been participating in RoboCup from 2004 to 2007 in the Four Legged League (FFL). The participation was part of the RoboCup courses (2003 until present), that offered undergraduate, master, diploma and PhD students the opportunity to study robotics in depth. The participation in the RoboCup Four Legged League has been an effort of the DogBots team-leader Birgit Koch. During this period the research group ``Technical Information Systems'' (TIS) has been responsible for the courses. Previous to the participation in the FFL the research group has been using the Lego Mindstorms in the RoboCup environment as an educational and research platform
The team is also engaged in education and making Robotics accessible to a broad audience. The team has been offering public games in this time and in the last three years the team has been offering a one week project for high school students, where the students could program simple agents in the RoboCup setting.
Research Groups and Scientific Background}
For the participation in the ``Standard Platform League the TIS Research Group is joined by the research group ``Technical Aspects of Multi-modal Systems (TAMS) and the "Cognitive Systems Group" (KOGS) both from the ``Center for Intelligent Systems and Robotics (ISR) and the ``Theoretical Foundations of Computer Science (TGI) research group from the ``Center for Distributed Information and Communication Systems''(VIKS).
